There should not be any busy signals on the BAMnet network so if you are getting one, here are a few things to check. (1) The easiest check is to find out if your busy signal is a computer configuration issue. Try picking up any phone from your location, dial 1-800-737-7530 and/or 1-888-235-8702 and listen for a fax/modem type of squeal on the other end. If you hear an operator's voice or a busy signal, give us a call (1-877-322-6638) and report your findings. (2) Does the line you are calling from require an outside line digit to make a call? A line digit is referring to an "8" or "9" required prior to dialing any long distance number. If so, configure your computer to dial the line digit using a comma to separate the digit and our 1-800 dial-up number. For example: 9,1-800-737-7530. In outside line digit situations, we've seen computer's falsely report busy signals from the lack of use of a comma. Or, too many commas such as having 3 or more commas between the line digit and the 1-800 number. (3) Make sure your computer is in fact dialing a 1 before the 800 number. In some cases of Windows 2000 and XP users, you need to manually add the numeral 1 into the dial-up number so that it reads in full 1-800-737-7530. (4) There have also been situations where the dialing properties of the modem was improperly configured and the computer thinks it is in the 800 area code. In this situation, the dial-up software tries to dial the BAMnet dial-up number without 1-800 in front of the 737-7530. If this is the case, just prior to dialing you would only see 737-7530 as the dial-up number. To fix this, just prior to dialing BAMnet and while the dialup software is on your screen, click Dial Properties. Change the Area Code to something other then 800. Do you need help?
